Follow-up with Dr. Hurst

Yesterday we had our 4 week post op follow with with Dr. Hurst. Dominick is doing fantastic. We were a little scared because we thought he had a fistula because food is coming out of his right nostril. But we found out it has to do with his gums not being aligned correctly....so when Dominick is 7 or 8 he will have to have a bone graph.
When we were there, Dr. Hurst suggested that we do his lip revision and nose revision by the end of the year or year and a half...I am very excited. I do feel bad that my poor boy has to go through this again, but the sooner the better, so he doesnt remember. He is in good hands and we are sooo lucky to have a great team of doctors.

  1. Hi,
I found your blog off of the message board. I hope you don't mind. My son was also born with a cleft lip and palate. Feel free to check out my blog at www.treesheart.blogspot.com.

Thanks for posting this. I feel so much better. My son has the same exact thing. I thought for sure he had a fistula. His OT even said there was a hole. You have such a great attitude about your doctors. You inspire me to be more thankful instead of being very critical. A lot has happened to our son where we were fighting doctors to not put in a G tube. You can read his story at www.josiahko.wordpress.com

Thank you for your blog. I completely agree. Our little guy is such a gift.
